Job summary

Universal Health Services in Chicago at Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital seeks an Emergency Services Intake Counselor to conduct crisis risk assessments and provide clinical triage for families and professionals. You will manage the fast-paced admissions process with strict adherence to mental health laws and confidentiality.

The role requires a Master’s in Social Work or related field, licensure eligibility (LCSW/LSW/LCPC/LPC or RN), and BLS/CPI certifications.

Qualifications

• Masters Degree required in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related clinical field.
• L icensure or eligibility for licensure (LPC, LSW, LCPC, LCSW) or Registered Nurse in Illinois preferred.
• BLS (AHA) and CPI certifications required upon orientation completion.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts crisis risk assessments and gathers health and treatment histories.
• Coordinates intake paperwork, pre-certifications, and physician care collaboration.
• Manages bed availability, patient deflections, and multidisciplinary updates.
• Maintains records and upholds confidentiality and legal standards.
