Job summary

Labcorp in Burlington, NC is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our team. The role supports testing operations on a 12:30am–9:00am shift, with new grads welcome and full training provided. The position emphasizes accuracy, safety, and adherence to SOPs while contributing to high-quality patient care.

The role involves routine and complex testing, instrument monitoring, and maintenance, with opportunities to develop technical decision-making and teamwork in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
• ASCP or AMT certification
• In lieu of education requirements, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may qualify
• Understanding of laboratory operations and policies and procedures
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with LIS
• Detail-oriented with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
