Job summary

Luther College seeks Campus Responders to support safety on campus, addressing quality-of-life concerns and assisting as students grow. The role includes night shifts, incident documentation, and collaboration with campus staff to maintain order and safety.

Responsibilities cover emergency response, incident management, and delivering safety education. The position requires a high school diploma, EMT preferred, and a valid driver’s license with background check.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Emergency Medical Technician qualification desired but not required.
• Must have or obtain first responder training (CPR/First Aid/AED).
• Must have or be willing to obtain Incident Management training.
• Prior safety, asset protection or customer service experience is a plus.
• Experience in a college setting or with college-aged people is desirable.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record and background check.

Responsibilities

• Interact with faculty, staff, students, and visitors professionally.
• Document incidents and routine activities in writing or electronically.
• Follow written directives and established procedures.
• Apply logic, critical thinking and sound reasoning to problems.
• Maintain order on campus and enforce parking/traffic regulations.
• Respond to medical and other emergencies as needed.
• Collaborate with other departments to meet campus needs.
• Provide safety education materials and crime prevention information.
• Ensure safety equipment and vehicles are ready and clean.
• Supervise campus responder assistants as required.
