Job summary

Coastal Horizons Center, Inc. is seeking a Residential Counselor (Overnight Awake) to provide direct care for youth in a 24-hour residential shelter in Wilmington, NC. Position on-site with Wednesday and Thursday nights 6pm–6am, plus PRN relief as needed.

Starting pay is $17.05 per hour for part-time roles. Requirements include being 21+, an associates degree or higher in human services or related field, and at least one year of youth counseling experience.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be 21 years or older.
• Associates degree or higher in human services or related field.
• One year of experience in counseling or working with youth.
• CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain.
• A valid driver’s license and/or government-issued ID; reliable transportation.
• Drug screen, national/state criminal record, NC Health Care and Sex Offender Registry, and NC DSS Responsible Individual List Checks required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care for youth in a 24-hour residential shelter.
• Facilitate supervision, recreational activities, and life skills coaching.
• Support crisis intervention and walk-in clients as needed.
• Manage staff, plan education and recreational activities, and ensure basic needs (food, shelter, medical).
• Maintain documentation and coordinate referrals and community resources.
