Job summary

Gregory Electric Company, Inc. is seeking an Overhead (OH) Utility Lineman-Class B in Columbia, SC to perform skilled work on overhead and underground electric distribution systems under supervision, with potential growth toward Class A proficiency.

The role includes constructing, maintaining, and repairing lines; climbing poles; operating aerial lifts; and ensuring PPE and safety procedures are followed in all tasks. A strong safety record and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of utility linework experience or completion of an accredited apprenticeship or training program.
• Ability to read staking sheets, work orders, and construction prints.
• Familiarity with energized and de-energized work practices and ability to work on primary voltage under supervision.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; CDL A preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead distribution lines under supervision.
• Climb poles and operate aerial lift trucks to install or maintain equipment.
• Identify faults and perform basic troubleshooting on distribution systems.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and job site safety according to OSHA and company procedures.
• Support storm restoration and after-hours callouts as needed.
