Job summary

Gregory Electric Company, Inc. is seeking an Overhead Groundman in Charleston, SC to support line crews in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead distribution systems.

This semi-skilled role emphasizes safety, material readiness, and proper equipment handling and setup. You will work outdoors in all weather, follow directions closely, and learn essential aspects of utility linework while supporting crew members and ensuring a productive worksite.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 0–2 years of field experience or technical training in utility or construction preferred.
• Basic understanding of utility line construction, tools, and safety protocols.
• Ability to read and understand work orders, safety instructions, and basic schematics.
• Familiarity with grounding procedures and equipment setup is preferred.
• Capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
• Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a crew.
• General knowledge of OSHA safety standards for energized and de-energized work.
• Valid CDL Class A or willingness to obtain within a designated timeframe.
• Current OSHA 10 or related safety certifications preferred.
