Gregory Electric Company, Inc. is seeking a Utility Heavy Equipment Operator & Excavator in Charleston, SC to perform construction, repair, and maintenance of underground distribution systems.

The role involves safely operating heavy equipment and following detailed procedures on projects throughout Gregory's territory. The candidate should be proficient in blueprints, problem solving, and communication, with the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and to pass random drug and alcohol

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; technical training valued.
• OSHA certifications or CDL A preferred for field duties.
• Ability to read blueprints and work orders; mechanical aptitude required.

Responsibilities

• Safely construct, maintain and repair underground distribution systems.
• Operate heavy equipment: dump trucks, backhoes, trenchers, mini-excavators.
• Identify materials and perform pre-assembly planning; rigging knowledge.
• Understand excavation, shoring, soil classification and safety protocols.
• Participate in drug and alcohol testing as part of a drug-free workplace.
