Job summary

Qualus is seeking an Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to design and create construction drawings for overhead transmission projects. This role can be based out of Lake Mary/Orlando, FL, Palm Beach, FL or Raleigh, NC.

You will design lines from 69kV to 500kV, prepare sketches for 4–34 kV, perform structural and foundation analyses, model lines in PLS-CADD, assess ROW needs, calculate sag, and review vendor submittals. A PE is a plus and up to 10% travel may be required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS degree in mechanical or civil engineering.
• 4–6 years of overhead transmission design experience.
• Proficient with PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD or similar.
• Strong communication and attention to detail.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Design overhead transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range.
• Prepare construction sketches for overhead network services (4 KV through 34 KV).
• Perform structural analysis and foundation designs.
• Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, determine right of way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and develop transmission line plan and profile drawings.
• Review vendor submittals.
