Job summary

River City Construction in New Bern, NC is seeking an Overhead General Foreman to lead crews installing and maintaining overhead electric distribution lines and related equipment, including transformers, meters, and substations. You will ensure safety, coordinate resources, and oversee field operations to meet customer specs.

This safety-sensitive role requires extensive lineman experience and supervisory skills, OSHA knowledge, and strong scheduling/communication.

Qualifications

• Five to seven years as a journey-level lineman engaged in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of distribution electrical systems.
• Three years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Safety: promote and comply with safety procedures; perform field safety audits; conduct pre-job briefings and safety meetings; maintain a safe working environment.
• Production: read blueprints and construction drawings; organize crews to complete tasks; oversee voltage work up to 40; manage equipment operations and setup.
• Supporting Functions: assist foreman; submit time sheets; mentor staff; ensure vehicles and equipment are operated; prepare crew performance appraisals.
• Storm Restoration: travel and work during storm restoration, possibly extended travel.
• Physical Demands: work outside in inclement weather; lift up to 50 pounds; operate in high-voltage environments.
