Job summary

Utility Lines Construction Services is hiring an entry-level overhead distribution lineperson in North Carolina. The role involves installing and maintaining overhead lines, setting poles, stringing wire, and troubleshooting faults in energized systems, with a focus on safety and professional communication with property owners.

You will operate bucket trucks and other line equipment, work long hours, and travel as needed for storm emergencies.

Qualifications

• Experience or ability to work with energized high voltage systems.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Ability to work with and around heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of proper sagging techniques for lines.
• Ability to install and remove a service.
• Be able to identify primary and secondary voltage.

Responsibilities

• Install transformers, insulators, switches, and switchgear; set poles and anchors.
• String overhead wire and ensure proper sagging; troubleshoot primary/secondary systems.
• Replace fuses, clear faults, and communicate work to property owners.
• Maintain tools/equipment; observe safety standards.
• Report hazards to Foreperson; perform construction/maintenance of overhead lines.
