Job summary

Merrill Steel in Wisconsin is seeking a Material Handler to support the Weld/Fab Department by moving heavy steel components with overhead cranes, assisting welders and fabricators, and aiding with grinding as needed.

The role emphasizes safe lifting practices, PPE use, and clear communication. Second shift runs 3:30 pm–3:00 am with a $1.60/hr night premium; weekends off to promote work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Rigs loads correctly before lifting.
• Operates overhead crane smoothly and efficiently.
• Operates tow motor.
• Uses proper chains and straps for loads.
• Maintains production level appropriate to skill.

Responsibilities

• Assist welders and fabricators in Weld/Fab Dept.
• Material handling, part expediting, and grinding support.
