Job summary

Simmers Crane Design & Services is seeking an Electrical Field Technician to troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain overhead crane systems at customer facilities. You will diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, perform preventative maintenance, and conduct OSHA-compliant safety inspections.

The role requires independent work or team collaboration, travel including overnight stays, and a commitment to safety policies.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.
Minimum 3 years in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, crane service, or related field; equivalent military experience considered.
Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and/or electrical equipment; welding experience preferred for applicable positions.
Experience as a crane technician, millwright, ironworker, industrial electrician, maintenance technician, or similar trade preferred.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, manuals, and work instructions.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic service documentation.
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; able to travel including overnight stays.
Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and emergency service calls.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain overhead crane systems and related equipment at customer facilities.
Perform maintenance and repairs at customer sites such as steel mills and manufacturing plants.
Diagnose electrical and mechanical problems in heavy industrial environments.
Identify needed parts, communicate with customer and engineering, and perform repairs.
Document hours and services; write service acknowledgements and maintain records.
Undergo NFPA 70E Arc Flash safety training and apply it on the job.
Work with AC/DC motor control systems and perform OSHA-compliant safety inspections.
Safety inspections and documentation in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
