Job summary

Ondrick Materials & Recycling, LLC is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Hauler to transport heavy construction machinery to and from jobsites and company locations, with a focus on safety, DOT compliance, and timely deliveries of yellow iron equipment.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years’ experience hauling heavy equipment, expert load securement with lowboys and other trailers, and valid CDL with hazmat endorsements plus a DOT medical card; willing to pass drug screens and work

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience hauling heavy equipment including yellow iron in a construction environment.
• Proven expertise in loading, securing, and unloading heavy equipment using lowboys, drop decks and other trailers.
• In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations including FMCSA 393.130 and related cargo standards.
• Ability to select and use appropriate tie-downs (chains, binders, straps) and edge protection.
• Experience with route planning for oversized/overweight loads and obtaining permits.
• Strong communications skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Reliable with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screens.
• Valid CDL with hazmat endorsements and clean 3-year MVR.
• Valid DOT medical card.
• Hoisting license and OSHA 10 certification.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate and maneuver trucks and trailers to transport heavy equipment.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
• Load, secure, and unload heavy equipment ensuring DOT and manufacturer requirements.
• Apply best practices for securing loads using chains, binders, straps and edge protection.
• Plan and execute transport routes considering road restrictions and permits.
• Maintain accurate transportation logs and delivery receipts.
• Communicate with dispatch, site managers, and clients to coordinate pickups and deliveries.
• Ensure all accessory equipment is properly lowered, secured, and immobilized for transit.
• Use chocks, wedges, or cradles to prevent movement of equipment.
• Display required signage, flags, and lighting for oversized loads.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance and keep cab/trailer clean and compliant.
• Wear and maintain PPE at all times.
• Work overtime, nights, and weekends as needed.
