Job summary

KemperSports, Inc. is seeking a part-time golf course ranger at Redwood Canyon Golf Course in Castro Valley, CA to help control pace of play and assist players on the course.

Responsibilities include patrolling all 18 holes, informing golfers about rules, safety, etiquette, rest stations, and helping with cart setup and maintenance; weekend availability preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Observe on-course pace of play and coordinate with the Starter and Pro Shop.

• Remind golfers to repair divots, fix ball marks, and rake sand traps.
• Report infractions to Starter & Pro Shop and assist with cart setup for daily use.
• Maintain course cleanliness and assist with event setup and cart staging.

Redwood Canyon Golf Course is celebrated as one of the Bay Area’s most enjoyable golf destinations. Located in Castro Valley, the 18-hole golf facility is nestled away among the rolling hills of the east bay and is home to some of the most beautiful golf scenery in Northern California. Completely surrounded by breathtaking natural wildlife including the San Leandro creek which comes into play on nearly every hole, the course offers some of the most unique golf around and is truly enjoyable for golfers of all levels.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for helping control pace of play on the golf course and assisting players as necessary while out on the course. Responsibilities may also include patrolling all 18 holes on the course whilst monitoring pace of play, informing golfers on the rules of the course, on-course safety and etiquette, the expected duration of playing time, assisting with setting up & staging golf carts for day of use, cleaning golf carts & removing trash after use, maintaining the cleanliness of the driving range by picking up baskets & picking range balls from grass areas on the driving range.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Observe on-course pace of play and coordinates pace of play with the starter and other rangers.
• Request slower playing groups to speed up pace, if appropriate.
• Assist golfers with information that may help them play the course such as local rules, yardage markers, location of rest stations, areas to avoid with carts, etc.
• Remind golfers to replace divots, repair ball marks, and rake sand traps.
• Monitor on-course activities and report all infractions to Starter & Pro Shop.
• Replenish water in drink containers on course as necessary to insure that drinking water is always available to golfers.
• Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures, location of emergency equipment, and reporting procedures. Provide emergency assistance to golfers and other guests as necessary according to Company procedures.
• Assist golf shop staff in preparing for and running tournaments, clinics and other special events.
• Assist with staging golf carts for day of use – ensuring all carts have sand, scorecard, and pencil in place.
• Cleaning & removing trash from golf carts upon cart return and staging carts for repeated use or storing carts in the cart storage area for end of day use.
• Perform other duties as appropriate.

Qualifications

• High school education preferred.
• Familiarity with rules of golf and golf course etiquette.
• Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including weekends.
• Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
