Job summary

The City of Arvada is seeking a Marshals/Starter to manage tee times, enforce course rules, and ensure a positive player experience. The role requires professional conduct and the ability to operate city vehicles as needed. Starting salary depends on education, experience, and internal equity.

Pay range is $15.16/hr to $18/hr, with placement from entry to mid-range. The position requires at least 18, valid state driver’s license, and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings,

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license required.
• Previous golf course experience preferred.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
• Strong customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Performs starter duties on tee box.
• Acts as marshal on course and helps out in any area requested by the supervisor.
• Starts golfers and checks turn times.
• Patrols golf courses to ensure pace of play and rule adherence.
• Stages golf carts as needed.
• Communicates in a friendly, responsive and professional manner to customers and co-workers.
• Cleans and maintains exterior restrooms and water stations.
• Operates a motor vehicle between city locations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Range - $15.16/hr - $18/hr

Position Purpose
Ensures driving range golf balls are clean, stocked, and readily available for customer use. Represents the facility professionally as a marshal/starter by managing tee time efficiency and enforcing course rules to enhance the player experience.

Essential Job Functions

MARSHAL/STARTER: General Statement of Duties:

• Performs starter duties on tee box.
• Acts as marshal on course and helps out in any area requested by the supervisor.
• Starts golfers and checks turn times.
• Patrols golf courses to ensure patrons maintain pace of play and follow rules.
• Stages golf carts as needed.
• Communicates in a friendly, responsive and professional manner to customers and co-workers.
• Cleans and maintains exterior restrooms and water stations.
• Frequently operates a personal or City-owned motor vehicle to drive to and from work locations throughout the City.

Physical Demands

• Marginal to moderate exposure to conditions that are unpredictable and may lead to injury.

Work Environment

• Regular exposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements.
