This is more than a sales role; it is an opportunity to become a trusted partner to contractors, municipalities, engineers, and other industry professionals while helping deliver the essential infrastructure our communities depend on every day.
What an Outside Sales Representative role at ICONIX looks like:
As an Outside Sales Representative, you\'ll be the face of ICONIX in your territory: building relationships, creating opportunities, and helping customers find the right products and solutions to keep their projects moving forward.
You\'ll succeed by combining a passion for sales and customer satisfaction with a proactive approach to business development. You\'ll take the time to understand each customer\'s situation, anticipate their needs, and develop personalized solutions that deliver value. Experience in construction, utilities, waterworks, industrial distribution or related fields is a plus, but more important are a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, staying organized in a fast-paced environment, and is willing to jump in wherever needed to support the team and our customers.
Identify new business opportunities while finding ways to expand and strengthen existing customer relationships.
Ask the right questions, listen carefully, and match customer needs with the right products and solutions.
Confidently navigate the sales process, overcome objections, and move opportunities forward while prioritizing the highest-value activities that drive customer and business growth.
Deliver on agreed-upon promises, communicate proactively when circumstances change, and partner with internal teams to create a seamless customer experience from quote through order fulfillment and delivery.
Take ownership of your territory, customer relationships, and results while looking beyond the immediate sale to identify opportunities for long-term growth and contributing to the success of the broader team.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of outside sales, territory sales, business development, account management, or related experience building and retaining a customer base.
• Experience in waterworks, construction, utilities, wholesale distribution, plumbing, industrial products, or a related industry is preferred.
• A proven ability to build strong customer relationships, establish trust, identify new business opportunities, grow existing accounts, and achieve sales goals.
• Strong consultative selling skills, with the ability to understand customer needs, recommend personalized solutions, overcome objections, negotiate effectively, and move opportunities through the sales process.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize high-value activities, manage multiple opportunities, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
• The ability to work independently and autonomously while collaborating effectively with customers, branch teams, and sales partners.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a commitment to customer satisfaction, quality, and delivering on promises.
• The ability and willingness to learn technical product information and apply that knowledge to customer and project needs.
• Comfort using computers, CRM systems, business software, and learning new technology.
• A valid driver\'s license and an acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory, with travel of up to 50% of the time as needed.
If you\'re looking for a career with opportunities to develop your skills, build industry knowledge, and grow within a supportive team environment, we\'d encourage you to apply.
This is a place where you will be empowered to do your best work.
