Outside Sales Representative – Commercial/Residential Building Materials

Interior Exterior Building Supply, a leading commercial and residential building material supplier in the Southeast, is seeking an experienced and motivated Outside Sales Representative to join our team in Gainesville, GA.

This position is responsible for developing and growing commercial sales within an assigned territory. The ideal candidate is a relationship-focused sales professional who understands the construction industry, enjoys working with customers in the field, and has the drive to identify new business opportunities while strengthening existing customer relationships.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and grow commercial & residential sales within an assigned territory
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities with commercial contractors, subcontractors, builders, and other construction professionals
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing customers and key decision-makers
• Make regular sales calls and customer visits to understand project needs and identify opportunities
• Develop relationships with general contractors, drywall and framing contractors, project managers, estimators, purchasing personnel, and company owners
• Identify upcoming commercial construction projects and pursue opportunities to supply building materials
• Prepare estimates, quotes, and proposals for potential projects
• Follow up on quotes and projects to secure new business and increase sales
• Maintain accurate customer, project, and sales information
• Work closely with inside sales, branch operations, management, and vendors to ensure customer needs are met
• Monitor market conditions, competitive activity, pricing, and construction trends
• Participate in customer meetings, vendor programs, industry events, and other business development activities
• Meet or exceed established sales and profitability goals

Required Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
• 1–2 years of sales experience required; outside sales experience strongly preferred
• Commercial construction or building materials experience preferred
• Experience working with commercial contractors, subcontractors, builders, or construction professionals is a plus
• Knowledge of building materials such as drywall, metal framing, insulation, lumber, roofing, and related products preferred
• Understanding of commercial construction, estimating, bidding, and project processes is a plus
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
• Proven ability to develop and maintain customer relationships
• Strong prospecting, follow-up, and organizational skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage a territory
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
