Job summary

Russel Metals is one of the largest metals distribution companies in North America, with a growing focus on value‑added processing. It carries on business in three segments: metals service centers, energy field stores and steel distributors. Its network of metals service centers carries an extensive line of metal products in a wide range of sizes, shapes and specifications, including carbon hot rolled and cold finished steel, pipe and tubular products, stainless steel, aluminum and other non-ferrous specialty metals. Its steel distributors’ operations act as master distributors selling steel in large volumes to other steel service centers and large equipment manufacturers mainly on an "as is" basis.

Essential responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

Position Summary

• Utilize special skills to promote the company’s products and increase customer base
• Make calls to potential and existing customers to sell the company’s products and services
• Build and maintain customer relationships in a positive manner
• Setup and maintain new and established customer data base
• Monitor technical and business objectives of prospective customers
• Responsible for negotiating and preparing material bids for significant clients by setting pricing and profit margins and formulating all plan details
• Provide appropriate communication regarding inventory levels, dead stock and new product evaluation
• Maintain working knowledge of product lines
• Negotiate skillfully and achieve acceptable profit margins in order to increase company’s profits and maintain company’s over-all financial health
• Work closely and communicate effectively with supporting both operations and sales staff to see orders through to correct and timely fulfillment
• Report customer issues immediately and provide customer support to resolve complaints and problems, while maintaining good relationships
• Monitor quality control
• Actively participate in training to increase sales skills and product knowledge
• Participate in inventory physical counts

Qualifications & Experience

• 3-5 years outside sales experience required
• Steel Industry experience REQUIRED (Please clearly highlight your steel experience on your resume)
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record

Working Conditions

• Frequent travel within Suwanee, GA, AL & TN.
• Combination of office, customer site, manufacturing, and warehouse environments.
• Occasional overnight travel for customer meetings, trade shows, or company events.
