Job Summary

The Structural Steel Outside Sales Representative is responsible for generating new business and managing existing accounts within the structural steel market. This role involves developing and executing sales strategies, building and maintaining relationships with clients, and driving revenue growth. The Sales Representative will work closely with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and meet sales targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development:
  • Identify and target new business opportunities within the structural steel industry that fit our preferred procurement methods.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to expand market presence and achieve revenue goals.
  • Conduct market research to understand customer needs, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Client Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and key decision-makers.
  • Conduct regular meetings and follow-ups to understand client requirements and provide tailored solutions.
  • Address and resolve any client issues or concerns in a timely manner to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Sales Presentations and Negotiations:
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations to potential clients, highlighting the benefits and features of structural steel products and services.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of contracts, including pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
  • Sales Administration:
  • Prepare and submit sales proposals, quotes, and contracts.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and pipeline status.
  • Provide regular sales reports and updates to the Sales Manager.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
  • Work closely with internal teams, including project managers and estimators to ensure seamless execution of projects and fulfillment of client needs.
  • Coordinate with the engineering and production teams to address technical queries and ensure product specifications meet client requirements.

Position Requirements

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Proven experience in outside sales, preferably in the structural steel or construction industry.
    • Demonstrated success in generating new business and managing client relationships.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong sales and negotiation skills with the ability to close deals effectively.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to understand technical aspects of structural steel products and services.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and CRM software.

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Communication tools (e.g., email, phone systems).

Work Environment

  • Primarily field-based with travel to client sites and industry events.
  • Office environment for administrative tasks and meetings with the sales team.

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of sales proposals, contracts, and client communications.
  • Monitor and evaluate customer satisfaction and feedback to improve sales practices and client relations.
