Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an Outside Plant (OSP) Planning Engineer to support Local/ILEC fiber network planning initiatives. This individual will be responsible for analyzing feeder fiber capacity, identifying network reinforcement needs, developing planning-level scopes and cost estimates, and preparing engineering handoff packages in support of customer-driven network demand.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with OSP fiber planning or engineering, a strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure, and experience utilizing network planning/design systems to evaluate fiber capacity and routing. This position requires someone who can work independently while managing assigned projects according to established priorities, processes, and engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze feeder fiber capacity and determine when network reinforcement or augmentation is required.
- Utilize OSP planning and network systems such as TIRKS, GSA (Geospatial Analysis), and NDS (Network Design System) to evaluate existing fiber capacity and routing.
- Develop planning-level engineering scopes, cost estimates, project documentation, and handoff packages for downstream engineering teams.
- Identify fiber network constraints and develop practical solutions that support customer growth and service delivery.
- Evaluate existing underground, aerial, and buried fiber facilities, including conduit and utility vault infrastructure.
- Support customer-driven OSP network demand and ensure planning work aligns with established standards and processes.
- Independently manage assigned workload, priorities, and project documentation.
