Job summary

Blue Signal Search is actively seeking a Telecom Infrastructure Specialist to support the reliability, expansion, and improvement of a regional fiber network. This hands-on role blends field work with infrastructure design and cross-functional coordination to deliver projects on time and within specs.

The ideal candidate brings field engineering experience in outside plant telecom, comfort working outdoors, and the ability to respond to fiber-related emergencies.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in outside plant telecommunications or fiber infrastructure.
• Ability to contribute quickly in an OSP environment with field conditions, construction practices, and network design in mind.
• Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to support occasional after-hours emergency response (fiber strikes, etc.).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document field and project information accurately.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Support outside plant fiber projects through field activities, documentation, design support, and coordination.
• Evaluate aerial and underground telecom infrastructure in the field to guide construction and network decisions.
• Prepare and maintain project materials from planning through implementation.
• Assist with roadway, permitting, engineering, and construction activities while coordinating with teams, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Review field conditions and completed work to ensure alignment with specs, safety, and industry practices.
• Document existing fiber facilities and suggest adjustments to routes or construction approaches as needed.
• Maintain accessibility of outside plant routes and address routine field issues.

Focus:

• Support outside plant fiber projects through a combination of field activities, technical documentation, design support, and project coordination.
• Evaluate aerial and underground telecommunications infrastructure in the field and use observations to help guide practical construction and network decisions.

• Work outdoors throughout the year and remain effective across changing weather, jobsite, and field conditions.
• Support team success by working collaboratively, adapting to changing needs, and providing guidance to developing professionals.

Skill Set:

• Hands‑on experience within outside plant telecommunications, fiber infrastructure, telecom construction, field engineering, or a closely related environment is strongly preferred.
• Ability to contribute quickly in an OSP environment with an understanding of how field conditions, construction practices, and network design considerations intersect.
• Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions and performing regular field‑based responsibilities.
• Willingness and availability to support occasional after‑hours emergency response, including fiber strikes and other urgent network events.
• Working knowledge of various telecommunications systems and the ability to understand technical details related to field‑based infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with infrastructure design practices, technical documentation, drafting tools, or related project planning resources is beneficial. Specific technical requirements are being finalized and should not discourage otherwise qualified OSP professionals from applying.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate field and project documentation.
• Organized, dependable, and capable of balancing multiple field and project priorities.
