Job summary

Quantum Sky in Oak Ridge, TN seeks an experienced Outside Plant Engineer to lead design, development, and operations of copper and fiber infrastructure at the Oak Ridge Reservation. The role collaborates with project managers and engineers to deliver reliable OSP solutions across complex networks.

Responsibilities include engineering, permitting, bids, contractor coordination, fiber splice records, and restoration planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years’ experience or 7 years of related technical experience with copper/fiber cabling and infrastructure.
• U.S. citizen and ability to obtain Department of Energy Q clearance.
• Experience with copper and fiber splicing, testing and restoration.
• Familiarity with DOE standards and industry guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimization of outside plant infrastructure at ORR.
• Coordinate engineering, permitting, contracting, and installation activities.
• Prepare project estimates, bids, and permits; manage construction activities.
• Maintain fiber splice records and network topography; ensure accurate as-builts.
• Direct emergency restoration and mitigation for OSP networks.
