Job summary

FirstLight in Maine is seeking an Outside Plant Engineer to plan and design OSP projects, evaluate routes, and prepare construction prints in support of copper, fiber, aerial and underground networks. This role involves frequent site visits and close collaboration with field teams.

The engineer will gather data, analyze routing, maintain plant records, and ensure compliance with industry standards including NESC. Strong communication and independent work skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have broad experience designing Outside Plant work plans with understanding of right-of-way, DOT and local permitting.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow complex maps, diagrams and schematics.
• Familiarity with NESC guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Conducts pre-Engineering ride outs and data gathering with site surveys.
• Maintains and inputs Plant records in the Plant Database.
• Interprets staking sheets and updates work orders for plant personnel.
• Prepares construction prints and assists Contractors as required.
• Keeps abreast of technical developments and expands job responsibilities.
• Travels to customer sites and field locations for OSP project info.
