Job summary

IQ Fiber is seeking a Manager, Outside Plant Engineering to lead the planning, design, and execution of OSP construction and maintenance for our fiber network in Savannah, GA. This role requires deep technical knowledge of fiber construction, splicing, network architecture, and OSP documentation.

You will manage cross-functional teams and contractors, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, oversee budgets and scheduling, and support a 24/7/365 operation with after-hours availability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in engineering or related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience in a fiber construction environment.
• Advanced knowledge of network engineering, optical networks, and aerial/underground construction techniques.
• Deep familiarity with splicing, troubleshooting, and OSP documentation practices.
• Experience managing outside plant contractors, including quality oversight, invoicing, and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency with trouble ticketing systems and MS Excel/Word.
• Strong organizational and project management skills for multiple concurrent projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and manage an OSP team of Supervisors, Fiber Technicians, Engineers, Locators, and Construction Technicians.
• Train team members in splicing techniques, troubleshooting, network architecture, and documentation.
• Oversee FTTP construction projects including field surveys and fiber architecture installation in multi-tenant buildings.
• Manage OSP construction activities across in-house and contract resources; oversee invoicing and quality of work.
• Lead restoration of outside plant repairs and support network troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and FCC/NCTA regulations.
• Support a 24/7/365 operation including after-hours work and outages.
