Job summary

Integrity Staffing Services is seeking an experienced Outside Machinist to support ship repair operations in Norfolk, VA. The role requires hands-on installation, repair, maintenance, and overhaul of mechanical equipment aboard U.S. Navy or marine vessels.

A strong mechanical background and ability to read technical drawings are essential. Day shift, 6am-4:30pm, with rates of $25.00–$30.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• Experience as Outside Machinist in a shipyard or marine repair environment.
• Experience working aboard U.S. Navy vessels.
• Strong knowledge of shipboard mechanical systems and repairs.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
• Familiarity with shipyard safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, and overhaul shipboard mechanical equipment, including pumps, valves, compressors, and related machinery.
• Disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and reassemble mechanical components and systems.
• Perform mechanical alignments, including shaft, coupling, and equipment alignment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
• Utilize precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and gauges.
• Inspect mechanical components for wear, damage, and proper operation.
• Remove and reinstall shipboard machinery and associated equipment.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with applicable specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
