Qualifications

• 5+ years as an outside machinist in a shipyard or marine construction environment.
• Proficient in mechanical installation, maintenance, and repair; strong understanding of mechanical systems.
• Ability to lift heavy materials, work at heights, and operate in confined spaces.
• Proficient in blueprint interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Install mechanical equipment (engines, turbines, pumps, valves) per specs and blueprints.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal performance.
• Align and balance rotating equipment using precision tools.
• Diagnose mechanical problems, identify root causes, implement solutions.
• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications for layout and assembly.
• Fabricate/modify components to fit applications; use various tools.
• Test and calibrate systems to meet specs; inspect work and adjust as needed.
• Collaborate with other trades to meet timelines; manage multiple projects.
• Mentor crew members and provide training as needed.
