Qualifikationen

• MD or DO with completed residency training.
• Board certification or eligibility in an appropriate primary specialty.
• Eligibility for an unrestricted Texas medical license.
• Formal wound-care fellowship or other substantial advanced wound-care training; CWSP is preferred.

Aufgaben

• Evaluate and manage diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, pressure injuries, arterial or mixed-etiology wounds, postoperative wounds, and other complex wounds appropriate for outpatient care.
• Assess factors affecting healing, including perfusion, infection, edema, pressure, diabetes, and mobility; order testing and refer promptly when needed.
• Perform wound-care procedures within the physician’s training and privileges, including debridement and compression therapy; manage advanced dressings and wound VAC when indicated.
• Coordinate care for patients referred by primary care, Urgent Care, or following hospital discharge; arrange follow-up based on needs and clinic capacity.
• Provide clear treatment orders for nursing and Home Health; document wound measurements, progress, procedures, and changes in the care plan.
• Educate patients and caregivers about wound care, prevention, and when to seek urgent evaluation.
