Job summary

Northwestern Medicine’s McHenry clinic is seeking a Full Time Triage Nurse to work 40 hours per week, with travel to the Huntley clinic as needed. The role involves triage within a physician’s practice, education for patients and staff, and coordination of visits and transfers.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited RN program, Illinois RN license, and BLS/CPR. A minimum of 3 years hospital or outpatient experience is preferred; BSN and Spanish proficiency are a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited RN program.
• Current Registered Nurse License issued by State of Illinois.
• BLS/CPR certification as required.

Responsibilities

• Triage all incoming calls and electronic messages, prioritizing and resolving with provider involvement.
• Document all communications in the electronic medical record.
• Schedule patient visits with providers when indicated by telephone assessment.
• Coordinate emergency and hospital transfers and related communications.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered and in accordance with Nursing Standards.
• Provide patient and staff education on clinical issues.
• Assist in coordinating clinical staff coverage and OSHA/CDC guideline adherence.
• Float to other ICCs/departments as needed.
