Job summary

Community Guidance Center in Greensburg, PA is seeking a School Based Therapist to join our team. Provide intake assessments and ongoing therapy in school or office settings, utilizing a range of modalities.

Responsibilities

Job description

Community Guidance Center is currently serving the school districts of Jeanette and Franklin Regional and we are looking for a School Based Therapist to join our team!!

  • Complete appropriate documentation relevant to indirect case management services for School Based and Office Based cases and SBOP cases. Maintain case notes, case files, treatment plans, case reviews, authorization and relevant paperwork requirements to insure complete, ethical, uninterrupted clinical care for consumers and their families.Maintain all documentation to fiscal standards, maintain complete files and clinical documentation and track services in a timely manner. Additionally, provide SAP services if requested by the Base Services Unit or Director.
  • Conduct appropriate consultation with the Guidance Center treatment team regarding clinical care and policies/procedures. Attend regular supervision with the immediate supervisor and openly communicate all issues which impact quality of clinical care. Conduct external consultation with other community providers, schools and agencies as indicated regarding client care.
  • Attend department meetings and/or staffing as assigned. Maintain appropriate professional continuing education requirements. Stay appraised of & follow all current agency policies and procedures. Serve on internal committees as appropriate to ensure ongoing quality assurance functions. Comply with quality assurance guidelines. Maintain awareness of all Federal, State and Managed Care laws, policies, regulations and procedures regarding clinical care, Best Practices Guidelines, and appropriate fiscal requirements related to services provided.
  • Provide intakes, Mental Health and/or Suicide Assessments & therapy to students referred by the SAP teams, other educational personnel, as assigned on an as needed basis in the school or office setting and School Based Outpatient cases. Therapy modalities include individual, group, family, S.E.L.F model (Safety, Emotions, Loss and Future) and collateral psychotherapy utilizing commonly accepted theories and techniques of behavioral, emotional and cognitive interventions.
  • Provide courtesy sessions when necessary to provide support for the student in the event of a time lapse between a MH or Suicide Assessment and initiation of opening at the Guidance Center. Sessions provided in the school setting demonstrating emotional intelligence.
  • Crisis Intervention in the school setting. This would include assisting in crisis situations at the schools by providing counseling for students in the aftermath of a crisis upon request by the school and approved by the department director and/or Chief Clinical Officer utilizing emotional intelligence.
  • Handle incoming requests for services at the Community Guidance Center as demonstrated by: Collect needed information from the referral source, determine what services are needed, facilitate appropriate and timely referral to provide these services, complete the required documentation of the intervention, prepare Releases of Information as indicated, provide crisis intervention as needed and schedule appointments when appropriate.
  • Adhere to seven recognized Sanctuary commitments which includes social responsibility, social learning, non-violence, open communication, democracy, emotional intelligence, growth and change.
Position Requirements
  • A Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or mental health related field from a regionally accredited college or university OR a Master’s Degree in another field, with undergraduate coursework in child development and psychopathology AND experience in the Mental / Behavioral Health field
  • At least one year experience in providing behavioral health services to children/families in a community based setting
  • Act 33, 34, FBI Clearances and Act 31 Mandated Reporter Training
  • Demonstrated experience in working in the school setting, and interfacing with schools to provide clinical assessment/intervention preferred
