Job summary

BayMark Health Services, Inc. is seeking a compassionate Substance Use Counselor for an outpatient program in Massachusetts.

The role focuses on assisting patients through medically assisted programs, conducting group and individual sessions, and addressing crisis management and coping strategies. Responsibilities include assessing eligibility, developing treatment plans, providing counseling, involving families when possible, and coordinating services with healthcare staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of individual counseling experience.
• Master’s degree in Behavioral Science with at least 1 year of individual counseling experience.
• Associate’s degree or high school diploma with current certification and 1 year of supervision (CAC/CADC/CADC II or LADC II in MA).
• Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is a plus.
• Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, accepting attitude toward our patient population.
• Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination.
• Facilitates initial treatment plan development and reviews with each patient.
• Completes Bio-psychosocial assessment.
• Provide individual and group counseling; coordinate services throughout treatment.
• Involve families/significant others in patient’s recovery when possible.
• Respond to patient grievances and complaints as needed.
• Develop aftercare and discharge plans.
• Other duties as determined by the supervisor.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 1 year of individual counseling experience

Master’s Degree in Behavioral Science with a minimum of 1 year of individual counseling experience

Associate’s Degree or High School Diploma with a current certification and 1 year of supervision. Certifications include CAC (Certified Addiction Counselor), CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor), or CADC II or Massachusetts state LADC II
