Purpose and Scope:

Functions as part of the hemodialysis healthcare team as a Staff Registered Nurse to ensure the provision of quality patient care daily, in accordance with FMS policies, procedures, and training. Supports the FMCNA’s mission, vision, values, and customer service philosophy. Participates in the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and CQI activities, focusing on patient satisfaction and process improvements that help achieve FMCNA Quality Enhancement Goals. Adheres to all FMCNA compliance, patient care, and administrative policies.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure safe and effective delivery of chronic hemodialysis therapy, supervising Patient Care Technicians, and ensuring compliance with all policies and regulations.
  2. Assess patient needs, develop care assignments, and monitor staff adherence to techniques and policies.
  3. Participate in staff training, orientation, and meetings.
  4. Educate patients and families about ESRD, dialysis therapy, diet, fluid, medication compliance, and related health conditions.
  5. Implement treatment prescriptions accurately, monitor patient responses, and communicate with physicians about issues or concerns.
  6. Perform initial, ongoing, and annual patient assessments, documenting care needs.
  7. Manage hemodialysis access care, administer transfusions, and ensure proper documentation and lab procedures.
  8. Coordinate with physicians and healthcare team members, document all care, and participate in CQI activities.
  9. Maintain a safe environment, ensure emergency preparedness, and adhere to infection control policies.
  10. Complete all required documentation, reports, and patient care plans timely and accurately.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Involves heavy lifting, prolonged standing, patient assistance, and exposure to infectious materials. Reasonable accommodations are available for disabilities.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current state licensure.
  • Preferred: 1+ year medical-surgical or ICU experience; hemodialysis training and CPR certification.
  • Must meet state-specific practice requirements and pass Ishihara’s Color Blindness test; accommodations considered.
Additional Information:
  • Hourly Rate: $33.00 - $55.00
  • Full-time position with 12-week paid training, growth opportunities, and no prior dialysis experience required as training is provided.
