Job summary

Modern Machining Solutions Inc. is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant for outpatient care in Ithaca, NY.

The PTA will work under a licensed Physical Therapist, implementing individualized plans, guiding patients in exercises, gait and daily activities, and ensuring safe use of assistive devices. Applicants should have an Associate's degree in PTA, NYS license or eligibility, CPR certification, and willingness to complete yearly safety in-services.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program resulting in an Associate's degree.
• Current New York State Physical Therapist Assistant license or eligibility for licensure.
• Current CPR Certification.
• Must complete yearly safety in-services and/or trainings, including HealthStream e-Learning.
• Prior outpatient or clinical experience preferred; new graduates may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provides skilled physical therapy treatment under the direction of a licensed PT.
• Assists with implementing individualized treatment plans to address patient goals and needs.
• Instructs patients in therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance, and daily living activities.
• Assists with safe use of assistive devices such as crutches, walkers, and canes.
• Administers modalities (hot/cold packs, ultrasound, e-stim) as directed.
• Performs therapy activities and manual techniques within PTA scope under PT supervision.
• Monitors and documents patient responses; reports progress to PT.
• Communicates progress and helps modify treatment as needed.
• Participates in discharge planning and reinforces home exercise programs.
• Educates patients and families on exercises, safety, mobility, and home program continuation.
• Documents care, treatment, responses, and charges in the EMR.
• Maintains NYS compliance, facility policies, safety, and professional standards.
