Job summary

Sun Recruiting is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant for outpatient services in Ithaca, NY. You will work under a licensed Physical Therapist to implement treatment plans, guide patients through exercises, and assist with functional activities.

Responsibilities include patient education, discharge planning, and documentation in the EMR. Onsite schedule with day/evening shifts, occasional weekends, and local travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an accredited PTA program.
• Current NYS PTA license or eligibility.
• Current CPR certification.
• Yearly mandatory safety in-services and HealthStream trainings.
• Prior outpatient or clinical experience preferred; new grads may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled physical therapy treatment under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Assist with implementing individualized treatment plans established by the Physical Therapist.
• Instruct and assist patients with therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance activities, and activities of daily living.
• Assist patients in safe use of assistive devices including crutches, walkers, canes, and orthotics.
• Deliver modalities such as hot/cold packs, ultrasound, electrical stimulation as directed by the PT.
• Perform therapeutic activities and manual techniques within PTA scope under supervision.
• Monitor and document patient responses and progress to the supervising PT.
• Communicate progress and modify treatment plan with the PT as needed.
• Participate in discharge planning and reinforce home exercise programs.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on exercises, safety, and home continuation of therapy.
• Document care and charges in EMR; adhere to NYS requirements and policies.
