Job summary

Kingfisher Recruiting is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant for outpatient services in Ithaca, NY. The PTA will work under a licensed Physical Therapist to implement treatment plans and educate patients in exercises, gait, and ADLs.

Eligible candidates hold an accredited PTA program Associate’s degree, NY PTA license, and current CPR certification. Outpatient experience preferred; safety trainings required annually.

Qualifications

• Education: Accredited PTA program resulting in an Associate's degree.
• Licensure: Current NY PTA license or eligibility.
• Certification: CPR Certification valid.
• Training: Annual safety in-services and HealthStream courses.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled PT treatment under the supervision of a PT.
• Assist with implementing individualized treatment plans.
• Instruct patients in therapeutic exercises and ADLs.
• Assist with use of assistive devices (crutches, walkers, canes).
• Apply modalities (hot/cold packs, ultrasound, estim).
• Document patient responses and progress in EMR.
• Communicate progress to supervising PT and modify plans as needed.
• Participate in discharge planning and home exercise education.
• Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, safety, and home program upkeep.
• Maintain compliance with NYS requirements and facility policies.
