CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL is seeking a skilled Medical Coder to perform prospective and retrospective coding reviews, audits, and education for physicians and clinical staff. The role requires knowledge of CPT/ ICD coding, and experience with reimbursement processes across Medicare/Medicaid and commercial payers.

The position involves regular meetings with physicians, training on coding guidelines, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in a medical center doing billing, coding, or reimbursement.

Responsibilities

• Performs prospective and retrospective coding reviews of surgical procedure documentation for accuracy (codes, place of service, modifiers).
• Audit practitioner E/M coding against medical record documentation and verify charge levels.
• Educate physicians and staff on Clinic coding guidelines and workflows.
• Prepare claims for Medicare Part A submission and assist with denials and resubmissions.
• Identify and log coding issues for Compliance Audit reports and follow up to ensure resolution.
