Job summary

UCI Health is seeking an Outpatient Coding Auditor who reports to the Outpatient Coding Manager. You will conduct rigorous departmental and interdepartmental coding audits to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations and identify discrepancies in acute care outpatient services.

You will review records, discuss findings with physicians and staff, provide feedback and education, help develop policies, and stay current with CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM and outpatient regulations.

Qualifications

• Three+ years outpatient coding/auditing experience in an acute care hospital
• In-depth knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM and outpatient regulatory requirements
• Familiarity with EPIC and 3M 360 Encompass software
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

Responsibilities

• Conduct rigorous departmental and interdepartmental coding audits to ensure adherence to regulations
• Review records and confer with physicians and staff to capture accurate documentation
• Conduct quality and CPT/APC payment reviews and identify discrepancies
• Provide feedback and educational support to outpatient coding staff and external departments
• Assist in development and enforcement of outpatient coding policies
• Engage in ongoing education to stay up-to-date with coding guidelines and billing regulations
