Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking a Phlebotomist to provide patient-centered laboratory support across PSC settings.

You will collect quality blood specimens through venipuncture and heel sticks for diverse age groups and ensure accurate patient identification, labeling, and order verification. Responsibilities include Epic registration workflows, non-blood specimen collection, and coordination with care teams to maintain safety and quality standards in a fast-paced outpatient

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy program completion certificate or documented competency with at least 100 successful venipunctures.
• Basic computer skills to use Epic or registration tools.
• Preferred: one year of phlebotomy experience.
• Experience with outpatient laboratory workflows and specimen handling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient-centered registration, laboratory, and diagnostic services in PSC settings while maintaining professionalism, service excellence, patient safety, confidentiality, and compliance with Network and departmental standards.
• Interprets verbal, written, and electronic laboratory orders; verifies patient identity; confirms test requirements; and ensures accurate order verification prior to specimen collection.
• Transcribes non‑SLUHN laboratory orders from outside laboratories and external providers into the EHR.
• Assists patients with kiosk registration workflows and Epic registration workflows.
• Performs outpatient EKGs as assigned, including patient preparation and data entry in the Epic system.
• Accurately labels specimens, verifies specimen integrity, and follows safety and infection prevention protocols.
• Collects and processes non-blood specimens as required with proper PPE and labeling.
• Maintains competencies for venipuncture, specimen handling, and Epic documentation.
• Travels between PSC locations to cover staffing needs and special assignments.
• Maintains site cleanliness and supports supply inventory management.
