UNC Health is seeking an outpatient Pharmacy Technician II to support the pharmacist in dispensing medications, processing prescriptions, inventory management, and customer service in a fast-paced setting.

Summary: The Certified Technician provides general support to the pharmacist by receiving, reviewing, preparing, and dispensing medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
At Employee Pharmacy, the OP Pharmacy Technician II supports an outpatient pharmacy serving UNC Health teammates, eligible dependents, medical staff, and other customers purchasing over-the-counter products. Responsibilities include prescription processing, medication preparation, inventory management, point-of-sale activities, immunization support, customer service, and regulatory compliance within the scope of pharmacy technician practice.
The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, detail-oriented, and committed to supporting workflow efficiency, patient experience, safe dispensing processes, and accurate prescription fulfillment in a fast-paced outpatient pharmacy environment.
This position reports to pharmacy leadership and works under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Pharmacy technician certification and registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy are required unless otherwise permitted by applicable job requirements.
This position qualifies for our Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program, which includes $5000 in commitment incentives spread over a two-year period. Payment is made after six months, one year, and two years of employment.
Education Requirements:
None required as long as other position qualifications are met. Current enrollment in PharmD program if working as a registered pharmacy intern with NC Board of Pharmacy.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Registration as a technician with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless enrolled in a PharmD program. If currently enrolled, an NCBOP Pharmacy Intern registration may be accepted.
CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA unless enrolled in a PharmD program; if enrolled, this can be waived for the duration of the PharmD program.
Professional Experience Requirements:
Prior pharmacy technician experience and immunization certification is preferred.
