Job summary

CommuniCare Health Center seeks a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to deliver high-quality outpatient pediatric primary care under physician supervision. You will manage patient care, document thoroughly, and collaborate with the care team to ensure timely, evidence-based treatment.

The role requires board certification in pediatric family practice, valid Texas NP license, BLS, and DEA with bilingual English/Spanish abilities preferred. This is an on-site position in Texas with standard clinic hours.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from an accredited university in a Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Board Certified PNCB, AANP or ANCC required.
• Previous work experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner preferred.
• Must have current unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner from the Texas Board of Nursing.
• Annual continuing medical education as required by board specialty.
• Must be registered and have current DEA.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association.
• Scheduled hours and/or work locations are subject to change.

Responsibilities

• Examines, diagnoses, treats and/or refers pediatric patients on an out-patient basis; prescribes medications and treatments with supervising physician.
• Maintains health records per HIPAA/clinic policies; documents visits in electronic health record and closes encounters within 24 hours.
• Ensures continuity of care by providing timely medical services within clinic schedule.
• Refer patients for specialty care, labs, x-ray and ancillary services with supervising physician input.
• Review lab/x-ray reports and make medical management decisions.
• Maintain productivity standards and efficient patient flow per clinic policies.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients via telephone, fax or in person.
• Train and mentor medical students and clinical staff as appropriate.
• Follow clinic policies and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in health promotion, education and prevention programs and clinic meetings.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
