Job summary

Texas Children’s Hospital is seeking a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for an outpatient setting focused on developmentally appropriate care for well children, episodic care for ill children, and care for those with chronic conditions. The NP works within clinical privileges and alongside the health care team to assess, diagnose and initiate treatments.

The role emphasizes education, research, and evaluation of clinical practice at various levels.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing is required.
• RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact required.
• FNP, NNP, PNP-BC, WHNP-BC, CPNP-AC, or AG-ACNP credentials from TX BON required.

Responsibilities

• Daily utilize advanced practice knowledge to manage a caseload of patients.
• Communicate effectively and work to eliminate communication barriers.
• Educate patients and families, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
• Apply new pediatric nursing knowledge to clinical practice.
• Maintain current professional, managerial, and technical knowledge.
• Participate in departmental Quality Improvement annually.
• Obtain comprehensive health, developmental, and family histories in the medical record.
• Collaborate with health care disciplines to provide comprehensive care.
• Identify and document patient/family learning needs, readiness to learn, and understanding, incorporating family culture.
