Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center is seeking a Surgical Technologist to provide intraoperative care as the scrub person during procedures. The role requires assisting the surgical team, maintaining a sterile field, and ensuring accurate counts of sponges and instruments.

The candidate should have an LPN, RN, or surgical tech program completion (or HS diploma with scrub experience) and BLS certification within 30 days of hire. Prior surgical tech experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of an LPN, Surgical Technology, RN program, or a High School Diploma or equivalent with six months of scrub experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Surgical Technology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilize aseptic technique and maintain a sterile field in the OR.
• Assist the circulating RN to monitor and maintain sterile conditions and patient positioning.
• Perform sponge, instrument, and needle counts following guidelines.
• Pass sterile instruments to the surgical team; assist with gowning, gloving and positioning.
• Prepare supplies/equipment and assist with instrument sterilization and inventory management.
