Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV, is seeking a Part-Time Surgical Technologist to provide intraoperative care as the scrub person during operative procedures in the Outpatient Surgery Center. The role requires either an LPN license with 2 years of scrub experience or completion of a Surgical Technology Program with certification, plus BLS within 30 days of hire.

Preferred candidates have 1 year of surgical tech experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with two years scrub experience OR completion of a Surgical Technology Program with certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire date.
• One year of Surgical Technology experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Utilizes sterile technique as the scrub person in the OR.
• Assist circulating RN to maintain sterile field and monitor technique.
• Perform sponge, instrument, and needle counts per guidelines.
• Pass sterile instruments to the surgical team during procedures.
• Position and gown gloves, assist with patient positioning and equipment setup.
• Prepare supplies and equipment, maintain sterile and non-sterile items.
• Track inventory, restock supplies, and process outdated items.
• Record patient charges and support general department duties.
