Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center is seeking an Surgical Tech to provide intraoperative care as a scrub person, assisting the surgical team during procedures at the Outpatient Surgery Center in Bridgeport, WV.

Minimum qualifications include completion of a nursing or surgical technology program or RN program, or HS diploma with scrub experience, plus BLS certification within 30 days. This is a full-time, day shift position.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Licensed Practical Nurse program OR completion of a Surgical Technology program OR completion of a Registered Nurse program OR High School Diploma or Equivalent with six months of previous scrub experience.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes aseptic technique in the OR as a scrub or non-scrub role.
• Assists the circulating RN to maintain a sterile field.
• Performs sponge, instrument, and needle counts per guidelines.
• Assists with gowning and gloving of surgeons and positioning equipment.
• Passes sterile instruments to the surgical team during procedures.
• Assists with patient transport and positioning under surgeon direction.
• Prepares supplies and equipment for procedures per preference cards.
• Assists with sterilization and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
• Monitors inventory and restocks supplies and equipment.
• Removes outdated items and reprocesses per guidelines.
• Assists with general cleaning of the department.
• Performs equipment checks as assigned.
• Assists with proper recording of patient charges.
