Job summary

OrthoVirginia is seeking an experienced OR RN for a PRN role in our outpatient orthopedic centers. This position supports our surgical teams, delivering safe, efficient perioperative care in a fast-paced environment without night shifts or weekend calls.

You will circulate cases, prepare rooms and equipment, verify patient details, and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff to ensure a smooth surgical experience for patients.

Qualifications

• Current RN license required.
• Operating Room nursing experience required.
• Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and procedures.
• Experience circulating surgical cases.
• Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
• Orthopedic surgery experience preferred.
• ASC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Circulate surgical cases in a fast-paced outpatient orthopedic center.
• Prepare operating rooms, equipment, instruments, and supplies for scheduled procedures.
• Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure per safety protocols.
• Serve as the patient’s advocate before, during, and after surgery.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and the perioperative team.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to promote efficient case flow.
• Monitor patients throughout the intraoperative phase while maintaining safety and comfort.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Assist with inventory management and maintain appropriate supply levels.
• Respond to changes in patient condition or surgical needs.
