Job summary

OrthoVirginia is hiring an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) in Lynchburg. You will circulate cases, prepare rooms and equipment, verify patient details, and advocate for patients throughout the surgical process. Collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff is essential.

The role features four 10-hour shifts, participation in on-call rotations, and weekend/holiday call as scheduled, in a hospital-based OR setting focused on orthopedic care.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Operating Room (OR) nursing experience required.
• Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and surgical procedures.
• Experience circulating surgical cases.
• Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred, if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Circulate surgical cases in a fast-paced outpatient orthopedic surgery center.
• Prepare operating rooms, equipment, instruments, and supplies for procedures.
• Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure per safety protocols.
• Act as patient advocate before, during, and after surgery.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative team.
• Anticipate needs of the surgical team to promote efficient case flow.
• Monitor patients intraoperatively, maintaining safety and comfort.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with inventory management and supply levels; adapt to changes quickly.
