Job summary

Mercy South is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Oncology & Hematology in St. Louis, MO. This outpatient role supports physicians with patient care, education, and coordination in a 40-hour work week on day shifts.

You will assess patients, assist with exams and procedures, document in the EHR, and collaborate with a care team to ensure compassionate, patient-centered care. Prior oncology experience is welcome but not required, and growth within the specialty is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current, valid RN license.
• CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Previous experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, review medical histories, obtain vital signs, and assess patient conditions.
• Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Assist physicians with patient care and specialty procedures.
• Provide patient education and help patients understand their plan of care.
• Respond to patient questions, phone calls, test results, and follow-up needs.
• Coordinate care and collaborate with physicians and other members of the care team.
• Assist with laboratory, imaging, and referral needs.
• Accurately document patient care in the electronic health record.
• Maintain proper medication handling and safety practices.
• Support infection prevention and maintain clean, well-stocked exam rooms.
• Respond calmly and effectively to urgent situations within the clinic.
