Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking an entry-level Registered Nurse CAP 1 for our outpatient nephrology program. The role involves coordinating clinically competent care, performing assessments, planning, interventions, and evaluating patient care for an assigned group of patients.

The RN will document data, educate patients and families, and collaborate with RNs, LVN/LPNs and Patient Care Technicians to deliver dialysis therapy safely and effectively. CAP requirements must be completed to advance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current state RN licensure.
• Current or successful CPR/BLS Certification.
• Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which employed.
• Entry level RN with less than 2 years of nephrology nursing experience.
• Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties under supervision and guidance of the Supervisor and Clinical Educator.
• Collects and analyzes patient data before, during, and after hemodialysis; documents in medical record and adjusts plan as needed.
• Educates patients and families on care.
• Directs daily delivery of safe hemodialysis with team collaboration.
• Administers medications per protocol and documents effectiveness.
• Initiates or assists emergency response measures.
• Serves as a resource and participates in staff training and orientation.
• Ensures proper lab collection, processing and shipping; reschedules missed collections.
• Updates nursing assessment and care plan with Interdisciplinary Team.
• Educates patients about transplant and treatment options.
• Completes CAP requirements to advance.

Education

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

Current state RN licensure.
