Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited imaging or radiologic technology program.
  • ARRT MRI eligibility or ARMRIT MRI certification; must obtain registry within 1 year of hire.
  • Produce high-quality imaging with minimal supervision.
  • Must function effectively in a team-oriented environment and be familiar with age-specific criteria.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required; certification from AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or equivalent.
  • Proactively maintains ARRT, state license, BLS, and training renewals.
  • Experience: 1–2 years in modality-specific MRI.
  • Preferred: ACLS.

  • Utilizes SHIELD reporting platform for events outside a normal encounter.
  • Supports onboarding and training of staff and students.
  • Participates in performance improvement and quality/safety initiatives.

Job Description Summary

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (MRI) reports to the site supervisor and radiology manager. Under general supervision, performs high‑quality MRI examinations in accordance with established protocols on patient populations for physician interpretation. Other duties are as deemed necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Performs MRI examinations in accordance with established protocols while maintaining image quality, patient safety, and efficient workflow.
  • Completes patient screening, exam documentation, and image verification in RIS and PACS to support timely physician interpretation.
  • Maintains image quality, productivity, and patient workflow.
  • Adheres to departmental and modality‑specific standards and protocols.
  • Provides safe, compassionate, patient‑centered care throughout the imaging process.
  • Utilizes the SHIELD reporting platform for events occurring outside a normal encounter.
  • Adheres to all MRI safety requirements, including zone protocols, implant screening, and ferromagnetic safety practices.
  • Upholds compliance and organizational standards.
  • Performs routine equipment quality control checks, assists with troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and places tickets as needed.
  • Supports onboarding and training of staff and students.
  • Facilitates a positive work and learning environment.
  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives related to quality, efficiency, patient, employee, and physician satisfaction, and safety.
  • Participates in staff meetings, lunch and learns, and quality meetings.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor in attitude, appearance, and communication.
Requirements
  • Graduated from an accredited imaging or radiologic technology program.
  • Registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) in MRI.
  • Must obtain registry within 1 year of hire.
  • Must produce very high‑quality imaging with minimal supervision.
  • Must function effectively in a team‑oriented environment and be familiar with age‑specific criteria.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required; certification from AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or an equivalent, or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • Proactively maintains and renews ARRT, state license, BLS, PPD, respirator fit test, and POC training.
  • Experience: 1–2 years in modality‑specific MRI.
  • Skills: General MRI exams, implants, elastography, and defecography.
  • Rotates to other locations as needed for training or staffing.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
