Pyramid Consulting Healthcare is seeking an experienced Outpatient Medical Coder for a 06+ months contract with long-term potential. This remote role in the United States requires accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding for hospital outpatient records, including ED, outpatient surgery, and chemotherapy procedures.

Ideal candidates have at least one year of hospital outpatient coding experience, familiarity with EPIC, and strong communication skills to clarify documentation with physicians.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of certified coding experience in hospital outpatient services.
• Experience coding ED, outpatient surgery, chemotherapy, and infusion.
• Familiarity with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS coding systems.
• Ability to work remotely with strong time management and communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Review outpatient hospital records and assign accurate diagnosis, procedure, and service codes per documentation.
• Code for ED, observation services, hospital ambulatory surgery, and other outpatient encounters.
• Code complex outpatient procedures across IR, vascular, neurovascular, cardiology, GI/endoscopy, imaging, urology, and related ED services.
• Assign codes for chemotherapy, injections, and infusion services.
• Ensure proper code sequencing and APC assignment per official guidelines.

Immediate need for a talented Outpatient Medical Coding. This is a 06+months contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in U.S(Remote).

Pay Range: $30/hr - $34/hour. Traveller benefits as per agency package. (Benefits vary by vendor and assignment.)

Key Responsibilities:

• Review hospital outpatient medical records and accurately assign diagnosis, procedure, and service codes based on physician documentation.
• Perform coding for Emergency Department (ED), observation services, hospital ambulatory surgery, and other designated outpatient encounters.
• Code complex outpatient procedures across Interventional Radiology, Vascular Access, Neurovascular Procedures, Cardiology, Cardiac Catheterization, GI/Endoscopy, Imaging, Urology, and related ED services.
• Assign appropriate codes for chemotherapy, injections, and infusion services.
• Apply ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems and ICD-10-PCS when applicable to assigned records.
• Ensure appropriate code sequencing and support accurate Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) assignment.
• Follow official coding guidelines and applicable CMS, NCHS, AMA CPT, National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI), and organizational coding requirements.
• Review clinical documentation, abstract relevant patient information, and identify coding discrepancies or incomplete documentation.
• Communicate with physicians and care providers to clarify diagnoses, procedures, and other documentation when needed.
• Identify potential coding compliance concerns and quality-of-care documentation issues and elevate them appropriately.
• Maintain coding accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable healthcare regulations and organizational policies.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Post-high-school coursework in medical records administration, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Minimum of one year of certified coding experience in hospital outpatient services.
• Hands-on experience assigning diagnosis and procedure codes for hospital outpatient encounters.
• Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
• Understanding of outpatient coding guidelines, medical terminology, and clinical documentation.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to meet productivity and quality expectations in a remote work environment.
• Must satisfy the client's local-to-office geographic requirement.
• Associate degree in Health Information Management, Medical Records Administration, or a related field.
• Experience coding multiple outpatient service areas, particularly ED, outpatient surgery, chemotherapy, and injection/infusion.
• Experience with Interventional Radiology, vascular access, neurovascular procedures, cardiology, cardiac catheterization, GI/Endoscopy, imaging, or urology.
• Familiarity with EPIC.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint.
