Scope of Position
Coding services assign diagnosis and procedural codes to outpatient medical records to facilitate reimbursement and data collection for OSU Health System. The position involves applying ICD-10-CM diagnosis and CPT-4 procedure codes to outpatient records not captured through the charge description master, reviewing information for accuracy in IHIS, training coding specialists, and participating in the hospital’s trauma registry.
Position Summary
The Lead Coder trains and supports new coding specialists, audits coding records, ensures adherence to policies, maintains data integrity, codes medical records, and abstracts necessary information. Responsibilities include selecting appropriate diagnoses and procedures, assigning accurate ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes, and interfacing coded data with billing systems. The role may also involve providing coverage in the absence of a manager.
Minimum Qualifications
Additional information: Location: Remote; Position Type: Regular; Schedule: 40 hours/week, First Shift. Final candidates will undergo background checks, and a drug screen or physical may be required.
